The Word Project is the umbrella for all literary events associated with Tuolumne
County Arts Alliance. The Word Project is dedicated to promoting the art of writing and
involving the public. In particular, TCAA’s literary arm encourages and supports local writers.

Word Project activities include but are not limited to:

3rd Friday-Open Reading at Sonora Joe’s. Writers are invited to read original work  of poetry or prose. Sign ups begin at 6:30 and the reading starts at 7. Readers are allowed  5 minutes and are encouraged to practice reading and timing their pieces ahead of time to be sure the fit into the 5 minute slot. Each month, the program includes a featured reader, a local or guest author who reads for 15 minutes. Sonora Joe’s is located at 140 S.Washington St., Sonora, Ca. Contact person is

The Word Project Press provides Mother Lode writers an opportunity to publish their
work more directly than might be possible through mainstream publishing channels. Visit

The Word Project Press 2015 Celebration will be on October 17th to as part of
National Arts Month.  This year, in addition to celebrating the authors published by the
press in 2015, there will be a Writing Workshop in the morning. Noted author Gayle
